Avril Duck
Avril is a local community theatre director, who grew up in small-town FNQ, has built a portfolio of grass roots arts and cultural projects. She has dedicated her creative talent to inclusive practices around FNQ for over 20 years. Supporting Avril in this project supports her to develop regional creativity, community connectedness and visionary theatre productions. Avril currently works part time as an Arts and Humanities teacher at Djarragun College and is mentoring a young man with a disability to produce his own play “True Friends”; she co-founded Tropical Arts Community theatre group in 2008 and has directed 14 x large-cast, fully inclusive (age, ability, background, gender identity, experience etc) Shakespeare at the Tanks productions.
Avril has written and produced her own work, directed for JUTE and delivered creative projects for organisations such as FNQ Volunteers, Arts Nexus, Song Connection, Mental Health Fellowship, and Mission Australia.
