Barnaby Donaghy
Barnaby Donaghy is an emerging artist, based in Newcastle (NSW). Barnaby’s creative practice lies within pushing comfortabilities, producing entertainment for entertainment’s sake, and cultivating positive, comedic environments to create and perform in. Throughout his time studying a Bachelor of Communication (Theatre/Media) at Charles Sturt University, Barnaby wrote, directed, and performed in University revues, historical re-enactments, musicals, political thrillers, and more. In 2020, Barnaby was awarded the individual Blair Milan Memorial Scholarship and also received the Blair Milan Touring Scholarship for co-writing and directing Pirates!, a transmedia mini-series, which is now in development for a Sydney Theatre debut.
Since leaving University, Barnaby created his own short film as part of Tantrum Youth Arts’ 2021 Residency Program and is playing the role of Liam in Tantrum’s ‘Opening Doors’ production, to be toured to schools in the Hunter region. He is part of a collaborating team with Pearl Junor and Gabrielle Aubrey.
