Cate McCarthy
Cate McCarthy (M Phil, BFA) is an artist, arts worker, writer, musician and director. Cate has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas in solo and group exhibitions, is a member of 2+2=5 ongoing arts collaboration with 4 women artists. She works across community arts projects NSW and QLD with Indigenous communities, people with a disability, carers, refugees and arts workers. She works with Arts OutWest , in Art & Health and in small schools program. Cate also hold teaching positions at male and female Correctional Centres & Nepean Tafe Art and Design. In 2012 in Lismore, Cate wrote and directed site specific performance work ‘on becoming a witch ‘ and ‘Mimulis’, a multi arts performance work. She designed and directed Lorca’s play ‘The Butterfly’s Evil Spell’. Sets and costumes for this were exhibited at Gold Coast City Art Gallery. As a musician she has toured Australia and continues to play at festivals and venues around Australia.
